Bosphorus is a natural strait between two continents; Europe and Asia. It passes two seas where the historical Ottoman buildings and the beauty of the nature embrace one another. Our boat ride takes about 1 hour 30 minutes cruising along the two sea shores of the city ornamented with royal palaces and mosques, prestigious universities, big 5-star hotels, suspension bridges and nation-wide famous wooden houses known as yalı. Our tour starts from the beautiful St. Sergio and Baccus Church, popularly known as the Little St Sophia. This magnificent building was built in the 6th century as an Orthodox church and turned into a mosque after the conquest of the Ottoman Empire. Its location and interior make it one of the most visited ones in the city. We will later board a cruise ship on the Bosphorus and start enjoying what both Asian and European sides have to offer. The palaces, wooden houses, and the beautiful neighborhoods will be passing one after the other as we admire and photograph them. We will have a better insight to the city’s structure and importance. We will enjoy the breathtaking view of Topkapi Palace, St. Sophia, the Blue Mosque and many palaces and wooden houses situated along the shore. We are pleased to offer you a very attractive half day tour where you can learn about the buildings and history of life around the two major sites of Istanbul: The Golden Horn and the Strait of Bosphorus. The Golden Horn is a sea tongue, at the entrance of the Bosphorus that get 7.5 kilometers into the city and was the place chosen by the Greek colonists to found the city of Byzantium. The Strait of Bosphorus, or Istanbul Strait, is a strait that connects the Sea of Marmara with the Black Sea and constitutes a natural boundary between the continents of Europe and Asia. The Golden Horn: has several places of interest for tourists. The historic coast pass through the neighborhoods of Fener and Balat, declared a World Heritage Site in 1985, along with other areas of Istanbul. Fener, considered the city’s Greek neighborhood, which has, for example, the Sveti Stefan Bulgarian Church, build of iron in Vienna and moved, piece by piece, to its present site, where was assembled; the Mosque of the Rose, an ancient Byzantine church converted into a mosque after the Ottoman conquest, the seat of the Fener Greek Patriarchate, a study and reflection center of the Orthodox Church, or the Red Schoolhouse, a striking brick building of that color. We will also see Balat, the old Jewish area, with the Ferruh mosque or the Kethuda Ahrida synagogue, built in the fifteenth century. The Spice Bazaar: This is one of the oldest bazaars in the city, also known as Egyptian Bazaar and the second largest covered market in the world after the Grand Bazaar. It is located in the busy district of Eminönü, near the New Mosque. Boat trip along the Bosphorus: This historic strait is one of the most beautiful places in the world, praised in numerous writings and descriptions of travelers since antiquity, inspiration of several works of art. Here you will enjoy the beauty of traditional wooden houses, mansions, palaces, fortresses and the huge bridge linking two continents, Asia and Europe, in a nice boat ride between two seas, the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara. Rumeli Fortress (from the outside): In order to conquer the city and prevent reinforcements arrival to the Byzantine Constaninople through the Black Sea and the Danube, Fatih Sultan Mehmet, (“The Conqueror”), decided to build a fortress just in front of Anadolu Hisarı Fortress (Fortress Asia), between 1451 and 1452. Since 1960 this fort is used as a museum and outdoor theater for concerts and summer festivals. Very well organized and the best way to experience the Bosphorus and Old City. Our guide was delightful – very entertaining and kind with so many fun facts about Istanbul. She went the extra mile to provide tailored recommendations on where to go and what to eat around the city based on our respective interests. Would love to come back and go on the tour again! 5 out of 5 Ilker – June 4, 2020 Last year we did this tour with Betül and it was amazing! We just saw so many things and so really learned a lot! It was like Istanbul in a nutshell! I can totally recommend it and would do it again! 5 out of 5 Beatus – June 5, 2020 When I travel the most important thing for me is to indulge in a real street life and get to know what locals would do. At the same time I want to know the information about the culture and history which are not so obvious, like the ones in the typical guide- books. All of it I learned during the tour with Betul tour guide! I recommend my experience to all the visitors who want to learn something special! 5 out of 5 Shonit – June 7, 2020 We toured Turkey few years ago and had Ms.Betul was our tour guide. She is such a lovely, amazing, down to earth person and gave utmost time and attention to us in giving us details of all the spots he visited. The Bosphorus cruise was so much fun and Betul ensured that we never missed out on any of it by herself indulging in the fun with us. A thorough professional and sweet person at the same time. 5 out of 5 Anabela – June 9, 2020 Betul was a true sample of excellent tour guide!
