Greek Islands & Bodrum (Bodrum-Rhodes-Symi-Nisyros-Cos-Bodrum /8 days– 7 nights)

Departures every Sunday

Day 1: Bodrum

Check in aboard will start at 15:30 hrs. in the  Bodrum Harbour. For this first day, our gulet will stay at the Port for dinner and for the night. You will have time to explore Bodrum, with a history from the 12nd century B.C, when the city was called Halicarnassus. It was the cradle of Herodotus, the “Father of History” and Dionysos, author of a valuable volume of the History of Rome. Halicarnassus was a famous city specialy because of the “Mausoleum” of King Mausolus (350 B.C.), one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

But there is only one structure that survived from the Classical Era: the Amphitheatre, for 13.000 people that, although one of the oldest theatres in Anatolia, still hosts some shows and concerts. The Castle of Saint Peter is known as the landmark of the city and a must see for being one of its best preserved pieces of architecture from the Middle Ages. You should not miss the “Myndos Gate” either. Through the Myndos Gate Alexander the Great entered Halicarnassus.

Day 2: Cnidus- Inceburun- Bencik

Early in the morning we will set sail to Cnidus (Knidus). Cnidus was a flourishing city in science, architecture and arts. It was the home of Eudoxos, a very popular astronomer and maths professor; Polygontos, Skopas and Bryaksis of Faros, the most famous sculptors of the era; Sostratus, the architect of Alexandrian Pharos (Light House) -one of the seven wonders of the World- and Ktesias the doctor.

The island hosted the largest sun clock of its time, erected by Eudoksos. An agora, a theatre, an odeum, a temple of Dionysos, a temple of the Muses, a temple of Aphrodite, as well as a great number of minor buildings were identified in the excavations of the place, started at the XIX century. The most famous statue by Praxiteles, the Aphrodite of Knidos, was made for this city. It has perished, but late copies exist. Thet most faithful is in the Vatican Museums. You may also take a walk on the shore to see the old ruins and we will have a swimming break here as well.

Lunch will be served at the bay of Inceburun, where you can swim again. The last stop of the day will be at Bencik Bay; with a very narrow entrance and, once inside has a unique view. Bencik is located at the narrowest part of the peninsula that divides Hisaronu and Gokova Gulfs, located on Hisaronu side. We will stay at Bencik Bay for dinner and sleeping.

Day 3: Dirsekbuku- Bozburun

After breakfast we will anchor at Dirsekbuku. There we will have lunch and a swim. Then we will head to our last stop, the small fishing town of Bozburun. This was a former famous area for sponge-diving but nowadays the locals have replace it by gulet tourism, as it was a dangerous and no longer a profitable economic activity.

Day 4: Rhodes

Early in the morning we will reach Rhodes costsRhodes is the largest island of the Dodecanese Archipelago. This island, hosting one of the best preserved Medieval cities and 300 warm days a year, has become a very popular touristic destination. Rhodes was the cradle of different civilizations: from the knights of Saint John in the Middle Age, to the Ottomans and then the Italians.

If you want to, you can join here our optional tour to the old city. Rhodes City is the main port of Rhodes and there are other beautiful and touristic places you can visit, such as Lindos and Kamiros. The city, still surrounded by a 12 meter thick wall and with narrow stone paved roads, will make you feel like travelling back to Medieval times. After dinner, we recommend you to enjoy the night life of Rhodes.

Day 5: Symi

In the morning we will sail to Symi Island and anchor in a bay close to the harbour. Here you will enjoy lunch and have a swimming time. Later we will head to the Port and passengers will admire the neo classical fachades of houses in the shoreline. Symi is an adorable island because of its pine and oak forests and beautiful bays. If you decide to join our optional tour you will know the Monastery of Panormitis, at the southern part of the island, where houndreds of greeks use to go on pilgrimage every year.

Day 6: Nysyros- Cos (Kos)

You will have breakfast and swimming time at Nisyros Island. In 1422 the volcano of the island erupted and it is being active since then. On the side of the crater, with white streets and a mosaic square, you will find Nikea Village. From this point we have an optional bus tour to the crater of the volcano, to admire the fuming volcano. Later we will sail to Cos (Kos) Island, where Asklepion was settled, the birth place of Hippocrates, the “Father of Medical Sciences”.

It is said that all the sick people from the East Mediterranean Sea came for a treatment in Kos, the second largest island of Dodecanese Archipelago, with fertile lands and a very gentle weather. You may take a swim in the quite Lambi Beach, very close to Kos Harbour and enjoy later the funny and active night life in Kos, specialy in Nafklirou, a crowded street full of bars and colourful.

Day 7: Black Island (Poyraz Harbour- Meteor Bay)- Bodrum

We will have a swimming break and lunch in the Poyraz Bay, at the Karaada northern part of, the Black Island. For tea time, we will anchor at the Meteor Bay, at the south, named for a meteor hole. This is another beautiful place and you should not miss a good swim here, jumping to the deep waters from the platform. Very close to Meteor Bay, there are some must see underwater caves that you can access for a small local fee. Back to sailing in our gulet, we will dock in Bodrum Harbou r for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Bodrum

After breakfast, from 10:30 hrs on, passengers will say goodbye to the crew and their shipmates, carrying unforgettable memories and experiences. We hope to meet you again aboard our turkish gulets!
